Welcome to the New Ohio Taekwondo Association
Encouraging Taekwondo Excellence in Ohio
The Ohio Taekwondo Association serves as the official State Organization for USATKD, the National Governing Body for Sport Taekwondo, under the United States Olympic Committee. Ohio Taekwondo Association's mission is “to develop interest and participation throughout the State of Ohio in the sports and martial arts aspects of Taekwondo and to promote the growth and development of Ohio Athletes, Coaches, and Referees who participate in state, national and international competitions.”
Dear Masters and Instructors,
I hope this message finds you well.
Thank you, as always, for your continued dedication to developing athletes and supporting the growth of Taekwondo within your schools and communities.
On behalf of the Ohio Taekwondo Association, I am pleased to invite you and your students to the 2026 USA Taekwondo Ohio State Championship, which will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Upper Arlington High School in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
This championship serves as the final state-level qualifier for national advancement and will feature Olympic-style sparring using the new Gen 3 Daedo electronic scoring system, as well as traditional poomsae, sport poomsae, breaking, and demonstrations. It will be an excellent opportunity for athletes to challenge themselves, gain valuable competitive experience, and represent their schools at a high level.
In preparation for the championship, we will also be hosting the USA Taekwondo Ohio State Referee Seminar on April 25–26, 2026.
This seminar is open to:
- Individuals seeking new referee certification
- Current referees who need renewal
- Coaches and instructors who wish to learn and better understand the latest rules and updates
The seminar will cover updated sparring and poomsae rules, as well as current USA Taekwondo education and certification requirements. Well-trained and knowledgeable referees are essential to ensuring fair, safe, and high-quality competition, and we strongly encourage participation from your schools.
We respectfully ask for your support in promoting both the referee seminar and the Ohio State Championship to your athletes, instructors, and staff. Your involvement and participation play a vital role in strengthening our Taekwondo community and raising the overall standard of competition in our region.
Please refer to the attached posters for detailed schedules, locations, and registration information. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact us at any time.
Thank you for your continued leadership and support. We look forward to seeing you, your referees, and your athletes at the seminar and championship.
With sincere appreciation,
