**An athlete MAY NOT QUALIFY in the same WORLD CLASS weight category in MULTIPLE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Athletes found doing so may jeopardize their qualification for the USAT National Championships. **
Athletes must compete in the age category according to the age he/she will be as of December 31, 2017.

USAT requires that all competitors - regardless of rank unless otherwise noted - provide photocopies of the following documents in order to compete in a State or National tournament:
1. Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Residency - U.S. Birth Certificate, U.S. Passport, U.S. Passport Card, Social Security Card, Green Card, school report card/official U.S. college transcript, Valid U.S. Driver's License, Valid U.S. State Issued ID, Military ID (all belts)
Proof of U.S. Citizenship - U.S. Birth Certificate, U.S. Passport, U.S. Passport Card (black belts 12 and older)
2. Proof of black belt - Dan Certificate (black belts)
3. Valid USAT Membership Card
4. Proof of valid Medical Insurance

If an individual is not a valid Resident or U.S. Citizen he/she will not be allowed to compete at the USAT National Championships or State Championships. Black belt competitors 12 and older must be U.S. Citizens.

Pre-Registration Requirements

Once you have completed your on-line registration at Hang-a-Star, you must FAX copies of the required documentation to USAT in order to complete the registration process.

If you do not fax the required documents to USAT and your status as of March 1, 2017, is “PENDING,” you are required to appear before the Check-in Staff on Saturday, March 4, 2017, for on-site check-in, and you must surrender photocopies of your required documents in order to compete.

Forms and photocopies are not the responsibility of the Registration Staff. You must arrive prepared to Check-in if you intend to compete. No exceptions or extensions. All forms can - and should - be submitted to the USAT in advance of the competition. To ensure easy check-in and to minimize risks of identify theft, OSTA recommends providing this information directly to USAT at least two weeks in advance of the tournament.

No refunds will be issued at any time.

Rank Equivalents

USAT recognizes a five rank system for non-blackbelts. Individual schools may recognized more or less belts. Please use the following chart as a representative guideline for rank equivilencies. Competitors MUST compete in their recognized school rank. ANYONE FOUND COMPETING IN A LOWER RANK WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!

USAT Rank 10 Gup Belt System Approximate Training Experience
White 10, 9 0-6 months
Yellow 8, 7 6-12 months
Green 6, 5 12-18 months
Blue 4, 3 18-24 months
